Why Has Latin America Gone Right?
MIAMI — Sociedad Media’s Editor’s feature argues that Latin America’s rightward shift is driven above all by security, as voters demand order against extortion, kidnapping, drug violence and street crime.
It traces how El Salvador’s Nayib Bukele became a template for the region, then walks through the conservative wins in Chile, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Honduras, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Argentina and Paraguay, backed by polling on insecurity and the economy.
Security is always a prerequisite to prosperity. Societies and nations cannot prosper if their populations are not safe. If their stake-hold in the society in which they live cannot be ensured by the government that taxes its residents and claims a mandate to govern that society, why would citizens risk their efforts or possessions striving for that which can be stripped from them?

It also reports Revolución Ciudadana’s claims of persecution and demands to know her whereabouts, and notes that charges have yet to be formally presented, no court has determined guilt, and no response was available from the Noboa government.
