New Political Prisoners Released In Venezuela Following Opposition Talks, Rodríguez Hails “Process Of Democratic Transformation”

More than 60 detainees have died in state custody in Venezuela since April, according to the Observatorio Venezolano de Prisiones (OVP) — a toll that spans the broader prison population, not only political prisoners, and underscores the conditions inside the same system the interim government's releases are drawing people out of.
CARACAS — The releases have done little to quiet unrest in the streets. Over the past week, protests have broken out across Guárico, Zulia, and Carabobo states — initially sparked by widespread blackouts — with demonstrators banging pots, blocking roads, and chanting “¡Fuera Delcy!” as they call for Rodríguez’s removal and a firm electoral calendar, rather than her vague promise of elections “at the right moment.”
The unrest builds on an earlier September 22 protest outside the UN in Caracas, where opposition figures rejected Rodríguez’s legitimacy to represent Venezuela internationally and demanded a dated path to a new government.

Machado’s Press Chief Returns To Venezuela, Possible Test Run For The Opposition Leader’s Comeback
CARACAS — Claudia Macero’s return lands amid the loudest street pressure Rodríguez’s interim government has faced since the transition began.
Machado herself framed it as symbolic, telling Venezuelans that “each return brings us closer to everyone’s reunion” — but stopped short of signaling any timeline for her own return, and Macero said she “does not know when Machado will return,” but remains hopeful of democratic reforms.
The moment nonetheless fuels speculation that the opposition leader could eventually follow, though Macero’s own entry only came after Rodríguez’s government denied her seven prior attempts, underscoring how much still hinges on the government’s willingness to let exiled figures back in.
