How is Immigration Impacting Miami’s Latino Republicans Ahead of the Midterms? What We Know
MIAMI — Hispanic voters in Miami-Dade County remain heavily Republican, with 43.2% of the county’s 807,210 registered Hispanic voters on the GOP rolls, according to the October 1 county report.
But the immigration crackdown that helped Donald Trump carry the county in 2024 is now straining Republicans, from Rep. María Elvira Salazar’s tightening House race to the contests for governor and U.S. Senate.
Polling shows prices still outrank immigration for most voters, so the effect so far looks marginal, and turnout on November 3 will be the real test.
