MIAMI - U.S. Immigration authorities have sent 22 Cuban migrants who are subject to deportation to Guantánamo Bay U.S. Naval Base, in Cuba, despite a federal judge ruling that the administration's move exceeds its authority, according report by The New York Times on Tuesday.

The U.S. Naval Base, located on the southeastern Cuban coast, has held 730 detainees subject to deportation since January, when the second Trump administration returned to office. Most of these individuals are of Latin American origin.

Five of the arrivals have been classified as "high-threat illegal aliens" while the remainder will be detained on the base and housed in barracks to await the asylum process.
