CCTV footage appears to show a brutal domestic assault in an elevator shaft in the Sun Golden condominium complex in the city of Ponta Negra, Natal, Brazil, on Saturday, the 26th of July, 2025.
The altercation involved 26-year-old former basketball player, Igor Cabral, who represented Brazil at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China, and his girlfriend at the time of the incident, 35-year-old Juliana Garcia dos Santos of Ponta Negra, Natal.

According to reports, the attack culminated from a nearby pool party among friends, where Cabral apparently discovered compromising text messages involving Garcia and a friend of his on Garcia’s cell phone. According to Garcia, the assault was caused by Cabral’s irrational jealousy over the innocuous conversation.
Cabral told police that Garcia had provoked him and began ripping his shirt before he erupted in violence, exacerbated by a “claustrophobic episode” inside the elevator.
Cabral unleashed a relentless flurry of swings, savagely beating the young woman with over 60 punches to the face. Ghastly screams from Garcia in the elevator frightened neighbors and friends who came to her aid as Garcia begged for her life.
Police were quickly called to the scene and placed Cabral under arrest as the assailant had blood dripping from his hands, as could clearly be observed in the elevator footage.
The victim, Garcia, suffered from multiple fractures to the upper face and jaw and was rushed to Walfredo Gurgel Hospital. Garcia, a saleswoman, later claimed that “He told me I was going to die and just kept hitting me non-stop.”
Garcia’s solicitor says that she will require major reconstructive surgery.
Cabral is currently being jailed with supervisory caution to prevent escape, and according to reports, faces charges for “attempted femicide.”
