Mexican TikTok influencer and content creator, Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, 32, known as Esmeralda FG on social media, was found murdered in the back of a Ford Ranger pickup truck last Friday, along with the bodies of her husband Roberto Carlos Gil Licea, 36, and their two children, a boy, 13, and girl, seven, in the Gael Santiago and Regina neighborhood in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
Esmeralda Ferrer was well known on social media, sharing lifestyle and travel content to her thousands of followers.

Ferrer also featured controversial content that glorified a presumed affiliated ‘narco’ lifestyle, with some posts showing Ferrer lip-syncing various drug ballads, called narcocorridos, inspired by the infamous drug cartels in Mexico and the culture that accompanies them.
Some of Ferrer’s more controversial content features provocative phrases like “advantages of having a narco boyfriend,” while being set to background music that is linked to the Beltrán Leyva Cartel.
The authorities confirmed that they have analyzed hundreds of hours of recordings, in addition to the cross-referencing of information that has taken place with the Intelligence services of the State Security Secretariat, the National Guard, and other federal institutions.

Ferrer’s social media footprint showcases a lifestyle of luxury, seemingly flaunted by the influencer, where posts and videos show the creator adorned with Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, and Versace clothing and bag wear, travel trips, expensive jewelry, high-end luxury vehicles, and exotic dogs like Pomeranians.
Local police were reportedly able to track the grey Ford Ranger through CCTV surveillance that eventually led them to a nearby bodyshop, where possessions and blood evidence belonging to the family indicated to police that the murders likely occurred inside the bodyshop, from which their bodies appear to have been later dumped in the back of the grey pickup truck parked outside.
According to reports, prosecutors are directing their focus on the activities of the husband, Roberto Carlos Gil Licea, who appears to have been involved in businesses relating to the purchase and sale of vehicles, including dealings in tomato production in the neighboring state of Michoacán.
